The much-criticized border fence that separated German Constance from Swiss Kreuzlingen at the beginning of the corona pandemic comes to the museum.
The director of the House of History Baden-Württemberg, Lutum-Lenger, received the fence from the Constance district administrator Danner. The fence was dismantled on May 15 and stored in a road maintenance department. The federal police had it set up between the two cities in Lake Constance in March to prevent the virus from spreading across borders. Many residents who usually move freely between the two cities were suddenly separated.
Residents had woven the artificial word "Kreuztanz" from "Kreuzlingen" and "Konstanz" and a heart into the struts from the barrier tape. They mounted the picture of an open door on another piece of fence. The mayors of the two cities had described the fence as a mistake in early June. If there is a second wave of infection, a fence must not be put up again, said Thomas Niederberger, Mayor of Kreuzlingen.
