The “Library of the Year” award goes to Hanover and Gotha this year.
The Deutsche Bibliotheksverband and the Deutsche Telekom Stiftung are proud to award two "outstanding" libraries in Germany. The “TIB - Leibniz Information Center for Technology and Natural Sciences and University Library” in Hanover receives the national prize endowed with 20,000 euros. Her work is thus recognized in areas such as research data, digital long-term archiving and at the interface between analog and digital formats.
For the first time, the “Library of the Year” award, which is associated with 7,000 euros, is presented in small municipalities and regions. The city library in Gotha (Thuringia) is characterized by its excellent educational and media work, which is tailored to very different target groups. This includes a children's university, a senior academy and storytelling cafés. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 24th. Last year the Central and State Library Berlin was honored as "Library of the Year".
